ITEMS OF INTEREST

Following an extensive review, with input from all sections of the Bowling community, including Bowlers, Clubs, Associations etc., Bowls Australia has approached the World Bowls Council seeking amendments to the Laws of the Sport of Bowls - Crystal Mark Second Edition as follows:

           - The introduction of a domestic regulation which would allow National bodies to approve a change in the minimum distance a jack can be rolled from 23 to 21 metres.

           - The winner of a previous end would no longer have the choice to give the Mat away, but would be compelled to take it.

           - The reference system used to outline the Laws would alter from dot point to decimal point.

           - The Skip in a triples competition would be required to mark the scorecard.

The amendments put forward, will be voted on at the biennial World Bowls Council Meeting on October 14, 2010.

In the meantime, current Laws will continue to apply and Bowls Australia will release a statement following the October Meeting, to outline the result of it's approach and the time frame for any changes, if approved.
