Draw completed for Australian Indoor Singles at Tweed Heads

Michael Stanley, Tuesday, 27 July 2010

Local bowler David "Mark" Stanaway from Mt Eliza have drawn a big first round opponent at the Australian Indoor Singles Championship to start at Tweed Heads August 23, 2010.

Stanaway will take on 2007 Australian Open Champion Aron Sherriff in what issure to be a real baptisim of fire for our popular leftie.

Mornington's Chad Muir will face off against Western Australian Russell Bates. Bates is best known in the west for throwing a jack accross a few greens during a premier league pennant match in 2008.

An excert from an article back in February 2008:

Vic Park Reds
v
Wanneroo

February 3, 2008
Victoria Park played Wanneroo today in a Premier League game

There was a major incident in this game when Wanneroo player Russell Bates threw the kitty a bit long, 2 greens & several rose gardens.
Rusty then picked his bowls up, walked off the green and caught a taxi home. This left the Wanneroo team one player short for the remainder of the game.

This was a costly action for the Wanneroo Express who were in desperate need of a win.
What the consequences of Rusty Bates action will be is undetermined at this stage.
There will be more to come out of this story
