Three locals qualify for main draw of the Australian Indoor Singles


Mornington's Chad Muir along with Mt Eliza's Mark Stanaway, have qualified into the main draw of the 2010 Australian Indoor Singles Championship

Mornington's Chad Muir and Mt Eliza leftie Mark Stanaway have qualified for the main draw of the Australian Indoor Singles Championship to held at Tweed Heads in late August.

Muir the reigning PBA and Group 7 Singles Champion won his round robin section at Hastings on the Saturday beating former Australian Indoor Singles representative John Curtain from Karingal. Muir then won his two knock out matches yesterday at the Brighton Indoor Centre. Excellent reward for Chad who is without doubt enjoying his best season in bowls.

Stanaway won through the round robin sectional play at Korruburra on Saturday and then backed it up yesterday also winnign his two knock out matches, including the scalp of former state palyer Brendan McCallum.

The other local to win his way to the famed Tweed Heads complex is Frankston resident Todd Simmons. Simmons is the head coach of the all conquering Clayton Bowling Club. Clayton won this years Premier Division premeirship and then steered his team to its second state pennant title in three years at Barham in May.

Two other bowlers from Group 7 failed to make it through the knock out stage at Brighton, current Group 7 Champion of Champions Michael Stanley and Rye's Paul Murgia.

All involved in Group 7 wish all three bowlers continued success at Tweed Heads.
